Starting Soviets in Team Yankee - Blitz and Peaces

Do you like outnumbering your opponent?

Do you like having the largest gun on the battlefield?

Do you like to pressure your opponent on all fronts without giving away your intention?

If you have answered yes to any of these, you are in the right place.

The Soviet union in 1985, which is where Team Yankee is based chronologically is at its Zenith. They have the whole of Eastern Europe to draw upon. They have tanks that rival the West, well motivated troops. The fact that the armoured divisions number roughly 16 : 5 against the NATO helps.

The Russians have two starting Boxes, both of which give a new player great value, They come with a pocket size rulebook, a paper template for bombardments, and 7 vehicles.

Yuri's wolves

Contents:

5 X Plastic T-64s
2 X Plastic BMPs
1 X Mini Rulebook
1 X paper salvo marker

The first set, Yuri's wolves focuses on ground combat, giving you the best Tank the soviet union has to offer. The T-64 boasts amazing cruising speeds. The standard gun of the USSR and the 125 mm main gun which would make any Nato tank tremble.

They are able to move further with stabilisers and so operate better in a knife fight situation.

The BMPs have the spandrel missiles which can similarly threaten any nato tank.

The main point with T-64s and BMPs is that you would be focusing more on ground combat and taking the enemy head on. Tank duels and missiles firing through the air. you could of course still bring air if you wish.

Potecknov's Bears

Contents:

9 X Plastic T-72s
2 X Plastic Hinds
1 X Mini Rulebook
1 X paper salvo marker

The second set, Potecnovs bears focuses on combined arms, the weaker T-72 tank cannot go toe to toe with the Nato tanks as easily as the T-64 but they aren't meant to. They are made for a more meaured approach in support of infantry and with Hinds in support to knock out the enemy Armour.

This set with its mix of tanks and air power, offers a holistic approach. Drawing the enemy into a duel with tanks and then using Hinds to destroy that weak side armour of their tanks.

Neither box will give you an army out of the gates but it does form a basic core to build your army around. I do suggest getting one if for nothing else than the handy rulebook, the paper salvo marker and the discount that the bundle offers.

They can be purchased here, We do free shipping worldwide on orders above 90 SGD.
